SCREAM: A PORTRAIT OF COLLECTIVE VOICES
Sixteen 14”X14” portraits: Acrylic on Canvas, 2025
SCREAM was created in response to the growing threat to democracy, personal freedom, and women's rights. As political divisions continue to deepen in this country and hard-won rights come under siege, I felt compelled to paint the emotions so many people carry—anger, grief, fear, and defiance. Rather than portraying specific individuals, the sixteen women represent diverse communities united in a shared emotional outrage. Together, they are a visual chorus of collective voices, insisting on dignity, freedom of expression, and taking responsibility for protecting our democracy. SCREAM reflects this moment in history and invites viewers not only to bear witness, but to find their own voice and recognize that democracy depends on all of us speaking up.
